The Community Based Rehabilitation Program for Persons with Special Needs in Nonghan, Udon Thani gives emphasis on self-reliance.  Three Tambons were designated by the town Mayor as our target areas, Tambon Na Bua, Tambon Sang Phen and Tambon Sunsaw.  We have started to assess the situation and the number of persons with disabilities at Tambon Na Bua.  At present 77 persons with disabilities have been assessed and only those who really need our assistance will be given daily services.

ACTIVITIES:

• The groups of the disabled and their parents were given training on Income Generating Project like liquid dishwashing soap making, mushroom raising among others
• Parents of the handicapped were trained to know and actively participate on making special equipment for their child
• Trainings and seminars for parents to gain more knowledge on how to take care of their child with special needs and be familiar with the rights of the persons with disabilities
• Personnel and staff are trained to coordinate and collaborate with their respective local government officers for any assistance that the project needs and for the local government to know more of the project
• Socialization Activities were provided:
  • Camping at Ban Kan King, Province of Udon Thani with the other 3 schools for the persons with disabilities  with in the province
• Annual DC-CBR games
• Yearly celebration of the Handicapped Day at the Municipality of Udon Thani (80 persons with disabilities joined, 2 of them received special wheelchairs and another 4 received ordinary wheelchairs)
• Family Day and Christmas Day Celebration for the persons with disabilties and their families (100 families were given gifts)
