Community Based Services
to PHA, their Families and Communities

Home and hospital visits remain an visit_elderly
important activity in caring for the sick and
their families. For the year 2005, Ban Metta
Tham has made 2,302 home visits involving 558 families.  One hundred and one (101) hospital visits to the patients confined in Phayao Provincial Hospital and at Mae Chai District Hospital.  These visits were made possible through the dedication of 3 Sisters, 1 full time staff and 5 PHA (Persons Living with HIV and AIDS) volunteers.

The focus of the home and hospital visits is the general well-being of the patients and their families.  Hence, the following areas were particularly given attention:

    • HIV positive persons who desire to avail themselves of the services of NAPHA are encouraged to join the PHA Support Group to facilitate medical and welfare services
    • PHA volunteers provide pre-test and post-test counseling services to HIV positive persons and counseling on pre-ARV treatment to prepare the patients and their families for the long term caring of patients in ARV therapy
    • Provision of basic and food supplement to patients who are very sick
  • SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC WELFARE
    • HIV positive persons who are destitute and are in dire need of monetary assistance were referred by the leader of PHA Support Group to the Local Government Organization (Tambon Administration Organization or TAO) of the sub-district who has the budget and the duty to provide for the destitute in the sub-district under their administration.
