Although the main apostolate of the Sisters in Phatthalung is the education of children, it is also imperative for the Sisters to reach out to the elderly who are poor and in need of assistance.
The main objective of the program is to animate and provide assistance to the elderly through the provision of basic needs, social and spiritual support.
In 2005, the Sisters were able to serve 40 elderly people in the surrounding area of the school. The teachers and non-teaching staff shared the concerns of the Sisters on the elderly. This program also helps in fostering collaboration among the school community, village leaders and the families of the elderly.
ACTIVITIES:
- Socialization activities and spiritual animation were organized throughout the year. These activities were either held in the school or in the village. One of the most appreciated activities was a pilgrimage of the elderly at Prathat Temple in Nakhon Sri Thammarat to commemorate the celebration of the Universal Day for the Elderly
- Home Visitation, especially to those who are too old to join the activities at the school or at the village, are very much valued by the elderly and their family. When the sisters walked to their home, they also greeted people along the way. By this respectful gesture, the Sisters were known and appreciated by the people in their area.
