Assistance

hiv_aidsPersons Living with HIV and AIDS Program by the Daughters of Charity in Nongbuakhok have  been going on for the past 6 years.  There are 89 families of PHA who are the beneficiaries of this program with more or less 350 members.  The “Friends of Mary Group” who used to be recipients of the services of the program is now an organized group that helps the Sisters as caregivers to their fellow PHAs.  The members provide mutual support to one another through home and hospital visitation, attendance in meetings, occupational group projects and in their monthly day care activities at Dankhuntot, Bamnet Naring and Chatturat Hospitals.

ACTIVITIES:

  • Regular home visitation to PHAs and their families especially those who are weak and need hospitalization
  • Occasional home-care are rendered when there is a need
  • Provision of food supplements to children and educational assistance to children of school age
  • Counseling to patients especially for new ones who are feeling depressed about their condition
  • Bi-monthly support group meeting at the Mary’s Help Center, Nongbuakhok to give the PHA members the feeling of belongingness and to face life courageously
  • Monthly educational savings for children of PHA
  • Meetings/Seminars for PHA members organized by GO’s and NGO’s
  • Once a year socio-cultural, psycho-spiritual activities during World Day for AIDS, Songkran, New Year and Christmas
  • Staff meetings/seminars
  • Day Care services in three hospitals (Dankhuntot, Chatturat and Bamnet Narong)
  • Self-Help Projects (pig/hog raising, selling noodles)
  • House repair for PHA families
  • Distributed rain-water jars to PHA families
  • Networking and Referrals to other NGO’s and GO’s
