The current significant growth of the youth groups in the Church of Laos promises a new life and a new beginning in an effort to humbly respond to her multiple needs, and in her process of renewal as a minority and a long-suffering Church of Asia.  An integral and wholistic on-going formation and activities and formation for Christian values of these young people are  a necessity in the process of growing towards  leadership as empowered members of the Church and society.

This year 2005, it is significant to note the emerging youth groups from the two major ethnic tribes of H’mong (Lao Soung) and Kh’mu (Lao Theung) coming from remote provinces under the Diocese of Vientiane where the external practice of Catholic faith sometimes experiences difficulties and restrictions.

Educational assistance was provided to eleven (11) poor youth in 2005.

• 3 secondary level (high school)
• 6 college level
• 2 technical course in Business Accounting (completed in July 2005)

ACTIVITIES:
• Weekly meeting, song practice and choir on Sunday Liturgical celebrations
• Praying for the dead in their homes/funerals
• Monthly meeting for leaders
• Helping  elderly people during their monthly gathering
• Eight-weekends preparatory activities for new youth members
• Hospital/home visitation to the sick, elderly and fellow youth
• Joining the catechists for village church feasts/celebrations
• Helping  teach catechism, Lao songs and dances to children
• Planning, organizing and facilitating on-going formation and activities to fellow youth and children
• Planning and evaluation
• Trainings/Seminars/Exposures for the youth

  • Participated in World Youth Day / Asian Youth Gathering
  • Participated in Vincentian Youth Encounter in Thailand (Youth from Thailand, Laos and Cambodia)
  • Exposure to community based program for the handicapped
  • Pilgrimage to the shrine of the 7 martyrs of Thailand in Songkhorn
  • Intensive English Classes
