The Ministry for Children is a response to the
emerging needs of children living in the impoverished areas of Vientiane, P.D.R. Laos. The programme is adopting a community based service and focuses on spirituality, health, socio-economic development and education. Two local workers were hired to keep the project moving. Trainings and exposures were given to them on the concept of community based approaches.
Intensive initial survey was conducted in collaboration with the village catholic leaders and local catechists. The objective of the survey is to asses the economic status and health conditions of the children, as well as to find the possibility of identifying potential poor children to be assisted in their education.
School fees, educational materials, school supplies and transportation were provided to 6 children under the educational assistance programme.
At present, there are 103 children living in Vientiane and nearby villages and towns who receive various support from this ministry.
